How are you?

A question that we are probably asked several times a day...Let's pause a moment to digest the breadth of that question.
If we were to answer truly, we would probably need a whole day to unravel that one right?? How can a sentence possibly convey an adequate answer?
Yet for most of us the answers we come up with are....I'm good, I'm alright, i'm ok.
But really how we are has a million layers....I am 'OK' but ask me about my dad and you will open a portal of grief, talk about my last relationship and unwrap layers of hurt. Ask me about my self worth and I will take you on a journey that recalibrates almost every day.
Now, ask me about my faith and I will light up with unshakable knowing, ask me about my daughter and I will remember my most potent portal into the nature of God, ask me about my dreams and a fire will rise from my belly as I unravel them for you.
So how can all of these things exist inside of us at the same time?? How can that sort of mix be in the same pot and how do we choose which one to portray to the world each day?
Can we be content, full of love and faith when there is still a bucket full of grief and hurt and self worth battles? I think Yes. I think humans are meant to be a mixed rainbow of swamp and fairy dust, of light and shade.
SO what is the difference between someone who walks around like a beam of sunshine and someone who is more like a cloud masking an inner storm.... Attention.
That is one of the only things we can control. We choose where we place our attention in every moment and where attention goes, energy flows and most of the time that thing grows (ooh love a rythme!)
So we place our focus on the light and love and the gratitude we have for our lives or we place the attention on the hurt and pains and the have nots.
That is the only difference between the human light beamers and human storm clouds.
The light beamers will still have the swamp inside and that swamp requires attention and space to be held for it. A day in my shoes may include dancing around the living room in full remembrance of my divinity and how held I am, followed by moments on my knees in a puddle of sad as something triggers a little grief pocket. But that is OK.
I hold space for that little grief pocket, acknowledge that it's there and that's alright and then after a few breaths to recentre, I refocus my attention. Life isn't a rainbow everyday and it's not meant to be. If Great trees hadn't weathered through the toughest storms, how would they know that they were great??
We can't choose all the things that happen to us but we can choose where we place our attention and the vibration we want to resonate at...most of the time, in-between holding space for the heavier stuff.
Choose Gratitude and the universe will respond to you with it's kindest kisses. I know this. Choose to spend a few extra moments in conversation with someone with the intention to light them up and see how that is reflected back to you.
Choose what part of the rainbow bucket you place your attention on today....it take's tools and practise. I love sharing some of these tools in my class, it lights me up and keeps my attention on life's fairy dust.
How am I? I am all the colours of swamp, light, shade and love and today I choose to place my attention on how lucky I am to be given another day to experience all of it.
If you ask me, I will probably still say 'i'm good'..... but this is what my 'good' means.
