Hey Lovelies, it's Lianne at Still Point Studio and i've finally found the time to write a news letter - Hurrah!
My heart is all about helping others to find their own still point, to connect with the calm stillness within and know that everything else is just noise. I am SO lucky to be working alongside an amazing list of practitioners who are equally committed to holistic wellness! SO before I start telling you about what we have got coming up at the studio I want to share some helpful tips for connecting to stillness...because I can, so I am :)
Become the watcher of your thoughts.
Imagine that your thoughts are like birds passing through a wide open sky. Big angry birds, little cute fluffy birds and maybe even some straggly scared looking ones. YOU are not your thoughts, you are the SKY. The Sky is always a big calm open space no matter what is passing through it and it kind of doesn't care what's passing through it either. When you can notice the thoughts coming and going with discernment instead of following them all down the road...it is the first step to self mastery. The first step in choosing calm over the noise.
You are always three Breaths from centre Straw Breaths. My number 1 breathing exercise that everyone should have in their toolkits. If you are ever feeling a bit frantic or anxious, come back to this breath. Inhale normally through the nose and exhale through pursed lips for as long and gently as you possibly can, like you are making a candle dance without blowing it out. This raises the CO2 level in the body, instructing it to calm and reassuring it there is nothing to run from.
